This privacy policy explains how Solvent — and Eli, its companion coaching app — (both operated by TrustTech Limited, New Zealand) collect, use, and protect your information. We've written it in plain language because you deserve to understand it.

Usage Analytics
Solvent stores what you do, never what you say.
In plain terms: when you use a feature — start a timer, create an invoice, set up a spending plan — we record an event with a name (like “invoice created”), a timestamp, your plan tier, and your user account. We also record which named areas of the app you open and when — “Invoices”, “Spending Plan”, “Calendar” — from a short, fixed list of area names. Never the page's contents, never a record, never a URL: if you open a specific invoice, the event says “Invoices”, nothing more. We never record the content: no amounts, no names you typed, no notes, no messages, nothing that could be read back. There is nothing in an event to decrypt, because nothing you wrote is in it.
This is part of how the service works, not an optional extra, so there is no toggle for it: while you have an account, Solvent records which named areas you open and when. Detailed area-visit history is kept for 180 days, then reduced to per-day counts. Events about what you created are kept while your account lives. These records help us understand which features matter and to whom. Only the Solvent admin can view them per-user, joined to your email and display name only — never to your financial data. If you delete your account, everything is anonymised immediately: the counts survive, the link to you does not.

We don't use your data to show ads, build marketing profiles, or train AI models on your information.
Who Sees Your Data
Our Team
Almost no one. We built Solvent with row-level security. Your data is isolated in the database. Team members cannot query your personal financial information. Only you can see your accounts and transactions.

The Eli Companion App
Eli is Solvent's accountability coach — available on the web at geteli.online and as a mobile app for iOS and Android. Eli uses the same account as Solvent (one login), and everything above applies to Eli too. A few things are specific to it:
- Coaching conversations. Your chats, check-ins, and commitments with Eli are stored (encrypted in transit and at rest) so your coach remembers context between sessions. Conversations are processed by Anthropic to generate Eli's replies — the same AI provider listed above, under the same no-training terms. You can delete individual conversations in the app, and deleting your account deletes them all.
- Your Solvent data. Eli reads the financial and time data you already keep in Solvent — that's the whole point of an accountability coach. This happens over a link you control: you connect it, you can see what it accesses, and you can disconnect it in Solvent's settings at any time. Eli never shares your Solvent data with anyone Solvent wouldn't.
- Push notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a device token so Eli can nudge you. Turn them off in your device settings anytime; the token is removed when you sign out or delete your account.
- Nothing extra. Eli collects no location, contacts, or data from other apps — the same "What We Never Collect" list above applies.
Deleting your account (Settings → Privacy → Delete My Account, or email us) removes your Solvent and Eli data together — immediate, complete, irreversible.

Your Rights
Access
Download your records (accounts, transactions, budgets, goals, time entries, invoices, settings): Settings → Privacy → Download My Data. Usage analytics events aren't in the export yet — email us and we'll provide them.
Correction
Edit most data directly in the app. Contact us for anything else.
Deletion
Settings → Privacy → Delete My Account. Immediate, complete, irreversible.
Portability
Export to CSV or JSON. Your data belongs to you.
Opt-out
Manage cookies in Settings → Privacy. Unsubscribe from emails anytime.

When you delete your account, all personal data is immediately and permanently deleted. Payment records are anonymized. Backups purge within 30 days.
Cookies
We use cookies sparingly:
- Essential cookies: Required to work (can't disable)
- No analytics cookies: Usage analytics is first-party and server-side — nothing runs on your device
- No advertising cookies: We don't run ads

Children
Solvent is not for children under 16. If you believe a child has an account, contact us immediately.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law (court order, preventing fraud, protecting safety). If this happens, we'll notify you unless prohibited, provide only minimum required information, and challenge overreaching requests.
We have never received a government request for user data.
International
Solvent is based in New Zealand. Your data may be processed in New Zealand, the US, and other countries where our providers operate. We ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws.
Changes
For significant changes:
